Are you ready to take on the second challenge of The Merseyside Summer Scout Fest 2020? (#MSSF2020) - Merseyside Scout Step Up!
Over the next two weeks, Merseyside Scouts challenge you to get your walking shoes on and join in with #MerseysideStepUp
Pick a challenge from the list below or decide on one of your own. You can choose to do your challenge in one day, over several days, or over the whole two weeks.
Think about where you will complete your challenge – up and down your stairs at home, around the garden, your local park, other places to walk local to you. Who will you complete your challenge with – on your own, with your family or with your four legged friend.
Make sure you dress suitably for wherever you choose to walk and the weather, so think about if you’ll need sun cream, sun hat, a waterproof or hike boots. And no good walk would be complete without plenty of supplies – so don’t forget your drinks, sandwiches and energy bars!
On average each step we take is 20cm, which means for every 5 steps you take you walk a meter.
National Three Peaks:
Snowdon - 1085 meters = 5425 steps
Scafell Pike - 978 meters = 4890 steps
Ben Nevis - 1345 meters = 6725 steps
Challenge Total: 17040 steps
Trans Pennine Trail (Merseyside):
Southport to Woodvale - 8000 meters = 40000 steps
Woodvale to Green Lane - 10000 meters = 50000 steps
Green Lane to Aintree - 5200 meters = 26000 steps
Aintree to Childwall - 12400 meters = 62000 steps
Childwall to Hale - 11200 meters = 56000 steps
Challenge Total: 234,000 steps
So when you have finished your personal step up challenge, get in touch via any of our social media platforms using the hashtag #MerseysideStepUp and tell us what challenge you chose, a bit about where and how you did it and share a picture of you completing it.
So go on, put your best foot forward and step, two, three, four!
