Cubs belong to the second section in the Scouting family. They get a chance to try lots of different activities like music, exploring, bell boating, collecting and go on their first weekend camp.
Cubs is for all young people aged 8 to 10 1/2 years, with the option of joining at 7 1/2 years at the discretion of the local Scout Group. Cubs normally meet together once a week in a Cub Scout Pack, and have opportunities to go on weekend trips and longer residential events than Beavers such as a full weekend Cub Camp.
By regularly taking part in their pack programme, Cubs have the chance to earn activity badges, staged activity badges, challenge awards, leadership stripes and the Chief Scout’s Silver Award.
Around the age of 10 1/2 years, Cub Scouts move up to Scouts to continue their Scouting adventure with other children aged 10 1/2 to 14 years.
More information can be found at the Scout Association’s member resources webpages on Cubs.
