Beavers belong to the youngest Section in the Scouting family. They enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.
Beavers is for boys and girls aged 6 to 8 years, with the option of joining at 5 3/4 years at the discretion of the local Scout Group. Beavers normally meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony, and have opportunities to go on weekend trips and residential events.
By regularly taking part in their colony programme, Beavers have the chance to earn activity badges, staged activity badges, challenge awards, leadership stripes and the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award.
Around the age of 8 years, Beaver Scouts move up to Cub Scouts to continue their Scouting adventure with other children aged 8 to 10 1/2 years.
