Joyce Wailing - 60 Years of Scouting
There is no retirement age in Scouting, which is a good thing for one of St Helens longest serving Scout Leaders, Joyce Wailing.
At the St Helens Scouts AGM on 13th May, Joyce was presented with her 60 years service award and certificate. Joyce started her Scouting as an Assistant Cub Scout leader in 1947, later becoming the District Cub Scout Leader and then from 1978 to 1992 she was the District Commissioner for St Helens.
Joyce was overjoyed to receive the award and said ‘Scouting has been my life and I have enjoyed every minute. I would like to thank all my many friends in Scouting for their support over the years’
Joyce is still active in the district and is the President of the St Helens Scout Association.
